Did you know that there is an app that recreates photos from the 80s? In fact, there are several, and they are a good option for those who want to relive the past and create different photos. After all, I think we can all agree that the current aesthetic is already quite common, and we all want to stand out in some way.
What is the best app for creating 80s photos?
There’s no way to say that one of them is the best. In fact, there are many others that we didn’t even include on the list because they only have versions for iOS or Android. In our selection, you’ll find only the best ones available to edit your photos and videos and even use specific filters from popular cameras, regardless of the smartphone model you have!
1. YouCam Perfect
The first place on the list belongs to none other than YouCam Perfect. It is a very complete photo editor that also helps you beautify your selfies. The app has a large number of features, such as creating an AI avatar and retouching your face, as well as animated effects. To help you take perfect selfies, it allows you to make your teeth whiter, your skin smoother and remove any blemishes or marks from your face.
And all this with the live editor! It is also worth mentioning that YouCam Perfect is able to remove the background of any photo and blur the backgrounds to give a very interesting effect. To edit photos in the 80s style, you have a few options. The first is using filters Vintage Feel, which are paid. Even so, they are worth it, because the photos are beautiful.

The second option is using filters Retro. This filter is also great for putting all your 80s photoshoot ideas into practice, but it's less dramatic. The app offers a few filter options so you can choose what works best for your purpose. Oh, and you can control the level of the filter, whether you want it to be more intense or more subtle.

YouCam Perfect is available on Play Store for Android and on App Store for iOS.

2. OldRoll
Want to go beyond learning how to take 80s-style photos, and feel like you were there? Then OldRoll might be the best 80s photo app for you. Unlike all the others, as soon as you open the app, you'll be greeted with an old-school camera interface. And it's not just one, you can choose to use dozens of the most popular models in our history, both for video and stills.
OldRoll applies the 80s-style photo filter to the camera you use. With it, you can also edit photos you've already taken, very simply. Just open the app, select the photo (or photos to create an 80s photo album) you want to use and choose the camera from the menu at the bottom.

Unfortunately, the app doesn't show you how the photo will look before you finish editing it. This makes it harder to choose the right filter for each image. Even so, the results are very beautiful and surprising.
OldRoll is available on Play Store for Android and on App Store for iOS.
3. Retro Cam
Another photo filter app from the 80s is Retro Cam. It's very simple and intuitive, but it's a bit limited. That's because you can't apply any filter live. In other words, you have to apply it over a photo you've already taken! This makes the process quite difficult, but at least it's easy to edit the photos you have on your device. It features filters to imitate analog photography from the 80s and 90s.
The best part is that, even though it has pre-made themes, you can create your own. Just use all the options it offers. And there are many! For example, it has retro and black and white, but you can also add the date, add dust and even do chromatic distortion.
To use it, you will choose the photo you want to edit as soon as you open the app. On the next screen, you can place one of the Themes (which are different with each click) or configure the appearance from scratch. Then just save and use on social networks.

Retro Cam is available at Play Store for Android and on App Store for iOS.
4. VSCO
VSCO is probably the most well-known 80s photo app out there. It works as a photo editor that has its own social network, Spaces. Here, you can share galleries, discuss the entire creative process and get honest feedback from other users about what you've produced. This way, you can always improve your art.
The app offers a wide variety of filters that have an option for every situation, including nighttime and food photos. The downside is that the filters don't have intuitive names, they're just letters and numbers. But you can understand them if you spend a little time: each letter represents a brand or style, and the number tells you which filter it is.
It's also simple to use VSCO to make your photos look 80s style. Once you open the app, you'll click on the square button at the bottom of the screen, and on the + to select the photo you want. Then just click on the settings icon and choose the filter. It is recommended to use one of the P1 to P9 filters, as they are the ones for instant photos, the most common of the decade.
