Secondo uno studio condotto da IDC, nel mondo erano circa 41,76 miliardi i dispositivi connessi a Internet. Per darvi un\u2019idea di quanto questo sia impressionante, la popolazione mondiale si aggira intorno agli 8 miliardi di persone; ci sono cinque volte pi\u00f9 gadget connessi che individui!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Non \u00e8 folle affermare che Internet sia una delle pi\u00f9 grandi invenzioni dell'umanit\u00e0: grazie ad essa, il modo in cui comunichiamo, lavoriamo e viviamo ogni giorno \u00e8 cambiato drasticamente. Con uno smartphone in mano si ha accesso praticamente a tutta la conoscenza acquisita dall\u2019essere umano.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nonostante lo usi da molto tempo, ti sei mai soffermato a pensare alle sue origini? Quando \u00e8 nata Internet? Chi lo ha sviluppato fino a farlo diventare quello che \u00e8 oggi? A queste e a molte altre domande verr\u00e0 data risposta nel corso del testo. Da non perdere!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Le origini di Internet (1960 \u2013 1980)<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Alla fine degli anni \u201960, quando i computer erano ancora dispositivi enormi, estremamente pesanti e lenti, alcuni ricercatori studiavano gi\u00e0 la possibilit\u00e0 di trasportare dati tra macchine diverse su lunghe distanze.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I computer militari e accademici stavano gi\u00e0 sperimentando reti per scambiare informazioni e creare collaborazioni pi\u00f9 agili sui progetti. Il Dipartimento della Difesa degli Stati Uniti (DoD) ha lanciato ARPANET, una rete di computer interconnessi che li collegava ad altre quattro universit\u00e0 nordamericane.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Allora veniva utilizzato il protocollo TCP\/IP, che esiste ancora oggi. \u00c8 un insieme di protocolli che consente la comunicazione tra pi\u00f9 dispositivi collegati alla stessa rete.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

ARPANET ha avuto molto successo e, nel corso degli anni, ha ampliato la sua portata ad altre istituzioni educative. Nel 1971, Leonard Kleinrock invi\u00f2 la prima e-mail della storia, indirizzata a Douglas Engelbart dello Stanford Research Institute. Purtroppo il messaggio \u201cLogin\u201d non \u00e8 stato inviato completamente a causa di un errore: a Engelbart \u00e8 stato inviato solo \u201cLo\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In precedenza era possibile solo la messaggistica diretta tra dispositivi; l\u2019invio di email renderebbe la comunicazione sempre pi\u00f9 solida ed efficace tra le parti. \u00c8 importante sottolineare questo grande risultato, poich\u00e9 ancora oggi fa parte delle abitudini di utilizzo in tutto il mondo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tim Berners-Lee, uno dei \u201cpadri di Internet\u201d, ha pubblicato la prima foto sul web. Era in onore di una banda satirica conosciuta come Les Horrible Cernettes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sviluppo (1980 \u2013 1990)<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Negli anni '80 inizi\u00f2 lo sviluppo di Internet per scopi commerciali. Da quel momento in poi, non fu pi\u00f9 qualcosa di esclusivo del governo o delle istituzioni educative. Grazie a questa fase, imprese di ogni tipo hanno potuto espandere la propria influenza attraverso la rete.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fu nel 1983 che il Dipartimento della Difesa disconnetteva il protocollo NCP da ARPANET, sostituendolo con TCP\/IP. In questo modo, la rete potrebbe connettersi con altri a livello globale.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fu grazie a questi importanti cambiamenti che nacquero altri protocolli di rete come l'FTP (File Transfer Protocol). Attraverso esso era possibile condividere file delle dimensioni pi\u00f9 svariate tra diversi dispositivi connessi a Internet. Nonostante sia ancora utilizzato oggi, il protocollo FTP \u00e8 alquanto obsoleto; la sua evoluzione, nota come SFTP, \u00e8 pi\u00f9 adatta al compito.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Inoltre, negli anni '80 venne creato Telnet: grazie ad esso divenne possibile la connessione remota ad altri computer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Divulgazione di Internet (1990 \u2013 2000)<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Questa \u00e8 la terza fase del world wide web, e una delle pi\u00f9 importanti: i fornitori di accesso hanno iniziato a offrire il servizio al grande pubblico. La maggior parte delle connessioni venivano effettuate tramite un modem collegato direttamente alla linea telefonica.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Gli utenti nati negli anni '80 ricordano sicuramente il suono caratteristico (e indimenticabile) dei modem mentre si collegano alla rete. Era un rumore spesso assordante, che poteva disturbare chi aveva il sonno leggero nelle vicinanze. Ma era il meglio che ci fosse in quel momento.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Il browser Mosaic \u00e8 stato rilasciato nel 1993 e ha aiutato molte persone a navigare in Internet in modo pi\u00f9 efficiente e comodo. Subito dopo apparvero altri browser, come Internet Explorer e Netscape. Da allora, la concorrenza tra le grandi aziende non ha fatto altro che aumentare.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Come previsto, iniziarono ad apparire diverse societ\u00e0 online: eBay, Amazon e Yahoo sono solo alcuni esempi di veri \u201cdinosauri\u201d su Internet, poich\u00e9 prosperano ed esistono ancora oggi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Internet come lo conosciamo (2000 \u2013 oggi)<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Alla fine degli anni Novanta iniziarono ad apparire le connessioni a banda larga, ma non erano ancora cos\u00ec diffuse. Tuttavia, \u00e8 a partire dagli anni 2000 che le connessioni via cavo e fibra ottica cominciano a prendere piede, diventando lo standard praticamente in tutti gli scenari.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Grazie a connessioni sempre pi\u00f9 veloci e affidabili, le aziende hanno sviluppato altre soluzioni digitali, come l\u2019evoluzione dei social network. S\u00ec, evoluzione e non creazione, visto che il primo social network \u00e8 stato lanciato nel 1995 da Randy Conrad: Classmates.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Inoltre, le piattaforme di blogging e streaming hanno cominciato ad apparire in massa, ciascuna con caratteristiche specifiche. Il 14 febbraio 2005, YouTube \u00e8 stato registrato da Steve Chen, Chad Hurley e Jawed Karim. Oggi la piattaforma registra miliardi di accessi giornalieri e centinaia di milioni di contenuti sono disponibili per gli utenti di tutto il pianeta.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nel 2004 \u00e8 stato lanciato Facebook e, dopo quasi 20 anni di esistenza, continua ad essere uno dei pi\u00f9 grandi social network al mondo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Non \u00e8 possibile parlare dell'evoluzione di Internet senza menzionare l'era dei dispositivi mobili: nonostante non sia stata pioniera in materia, Apple ha creato il primo iPhone nel 2007. Grazie all'enorme successo commerciale del dispositivo, diversi altri marchi sono entrati nel mercato corsa per una fetta di mercato e, da allora, gli smartphone sono comuni come il respiro.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

L'evoluzione non si ferma mai<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Anche gli smartphone pi\u00f9 elementari sono molto pi\u00f9 potenti dei costosissimi e sofisticati apparecchi degli anni Novanta e Duemila. Questo perch\u00e9 la divulgazione di Internet ha assunto una forma semplicemente impressionante. Dopotutto, sulla Terra ci sono pi\u00f9 smartphone che abitanti umani.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
